Around the Grounds...
The History of La Maison de Rafah
Originally built in the 1850s as a farmhouse, La Maison de Rafah, affectionately known as Rapha House, has undergone a rich transformation over the years. Located in the charming village of Arcy-sur-Cure in the heart of Burgundy, this historic property has evolved from its humble beginnings into a serene haven for travelers seeking tranquility and comfort.
In its second iteration, the building served as a plumber's workshop, bustling with activity and craftsmanship. In 2007, Bridgette and Lucien Castera recognized the potential of the space and transformed it into a charming bed and breakfast, featuring four inviting bedrooms. Their vision was to create a retreat where guests could escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse themselves in the beauty of the surrounding countryside.
In September 2022, David and Janet Kronbach took the reins of Rapha House, infusing it with their passion for hospitality and commitment to creating memorable experiences for guests. With extensive renovations completed in 2024, every corner of the newly remodeled Rapha House exudes warmth, character, and comfort.
The Great Room, with its cozy fireplace, wood stove, and heated floors, serves as the heart of the house, inviting guests to relax and unwind. The dining table, crafted from the plumber's workbench, is where guests gather to savor Bridgette's delicious four-course dinners, prepared with love and care.
As you step through the doors of Rapha House, you are welcomed into a world of peace, rest, and genuine hospitality. Whether you're admiring the beauty of the river Cure or simply enjoying the quiet charm of the village, Rapha House offers a sanctuary where you can leave your worries behind and embrace the simple joys of life.
